The 21-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at Rennes until the summer of 2015 and joins the French side for an undisclosed fee.
“He’s a player with a lot of potential. We didn’t have a player like him yet. He’s very strong in the air and is very athletic. He’s always dangerous inside the are,” said Rennes’ sporting director Pierre Dreossi on the club’s official website.
“I will need some time to adapt to my new surroundings, but all the players are really helpful. If a club like Rennes are after you, you simply can’t turn them down,” commented Verhoek.
