The new deal will keep the 25-year-old former Colchester keeper at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2013.
City manager Keith Millen told the club’s official website: “I’m delighted Dean has agreed this new deal and he thoroughly deserves it.
“Dean is a quality goalkeeper and just the kind of player I want on our books. He’s been very professional in his approach this season and continues to work terrifically hard in training.
“Dean wants to play like every other player but he doesn’t moan or cause any trouble, he just gets his head down and gives 100%.”
