Man Utd star expected to appeal FA charge

Rooney is facing a two-match ban after being charged by the Football Association for swearing in the win at West Ham.

The two-match ban would see Rooney miss the Premier League clash with Fulham and the FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City.

Rooney is expected not to contest the charge, but wants the suspension reduced to one game.

Should Rooney decide to appeal the charge an independent regulatory commission can extend his ban by another match.
