The new deal will keep the 36-year-old at Ajax until the summer of 2012.
Ajax coach Frank de Boer told the club’s official website: “Andre has proven himself of great value to this squad. It would be going too far to call him a ‘father figure’, but his role on and off the field is important.
“His football skills are beyond dispute and in recent matches he has once again shown we can count on him when we need it. He is among the best of professionals and next season he can be of value to Ajax, so I’m glad he is staying on.”
