The 36-year-old has indicated that talks have already been held and the Icelander believes that his future will be resolved once a proposed takeover of the club is finalised.
He told the Portsmouth News: “We’ve spoken (about a new contract).
“It’s all hanging around at the moment, possibly because of the takeover.
“We’re chopping and changing and aren’t knowing which players are going to be here.
“We have to get the takeover sorted first. Maybe there is more important things than me. I’m hoping to stay, though. I want to stay.
“Hopefully, I’ll be sitting down at some stage soon and signing that lucrative 10-year contract!”
