Boateng is currently on loan at AC Milan from Genoa, but is set to join the Rossoneri on a permanent deal at the end of the season.
“I was a step away from joining Lazio,” he told the Messaggero newspaper.
“I met with president Claudio Lotito, but I turned him down. Seeing how my season has gone, I have no regret.”
