Petersen has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at Bayern Munich until the summer of 2014.
Bayern Munich have reportedly met Petersen’s €2.8million release clause.
“I’ll never forget May 19,” the 22-year old striker said. “It makes me proud that Bayern Munich are my new employers. I am really looking forward to it and I have big plans.”
Petersen will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Gerd Muller and Giovane Elber and wear the Bayern Munich number nine shirt.
He added: “I was surprised by that, but I’m very proud. Nine is the biggest number for a striker. These are big footsteps, but they’re to be followed in.”
