Jensen signs new Blackburn deal

Jensen only agreed a six-month contract when he joined Rovers as Steve Kean’s assistant in January, but has now been rewarded with a 12-month extension.

“To be asked to stay on means an awful lot to me,” Jensen told the club’s official website.

“Steve told me a few weeks ago that he was keen for me to stay whatever happened, but the situation is clearly much better now we have secured our Premier League status.

“It is apparent to me that the Premier League is by far and away the best competition in the world and to be able to be part of it at a club as good as this is very exciting.”

“John quickly proved to me that he has all the qualities necessary to fulfil the role of assistant manager, not least loyalty and trust,” said Kean.

“He is a football man and we share the same philosophies. I’m delighted that he has agreed to continue with us and see him playing a big part in our future.”
