Solbakken, who has led FC Copenhagen to the Danish Superliga five times, will take over as Cologne boss on July 1st.
Aakjaer told Ontheminute.com: “Cologne is a big and prestige club with a great history, and its quite a step up for Stale Solbakken from the danish Superleague to one of the strongest leagues in the world with a lot of pressure, much more people to the matches and a total different level than he is used to from Denmark.
“He has not that much experience total as a coach (around 7 years total) – but he is very intelligent and a strong motivator so he could be the right choice for Cologne i think.”
Reports have suggested Solbakken could decide to bring some players from FC Copenhagen with him to Cologne.
Aakjaer added: “Regarding players from FC Copenhagen to Cologne – i really do not know, but quite a lot of the players contracts are ending now or next summer, so maybe..”
