The 21-year-old has impressed during a season-long stint at the DW Stadium and helped the Latics avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The England Under-21 international told the Daily Star: “I’ll be back at United next year.
“Of course, Wigan will be the first result I’ll look for and the club will always be close to my heart.
“We achieved what we wanted as a team and that means everything to me. Staying up was the best moment of my career.
“Now I go back looking to build on what I’ve done and hopefully make my mark at Old Trafford.”
