The Magpies are looking to bring in Taylor as a potential replacement for Jose Enrique.
Enrique has been linked with a number of clubs in recent months and could leave St James’ Park this summer.
Taylor joined Swansea from Wrexham last summer and played a key role in helping his side win promotion to the Premier League.
