The new deal will keep the 26-year-old at Feyenoord until the summer of 2014.

Vlaar added: “I am delighted with my new deal and feel very relieved. Negotiations took pretty long because I wanted to be sure that this is the right decision. I hope that other players will now follow suit and I am already looking forward to the new season.”
