McCoist is confident that the 23-year-old defender can be a success at Ibrox.
“A bid has gone into Espanyol but we haven’t heard anything back from them yet,” McCoist told the Daily Record.
“We need cover and hopefully Rodriguez would give us that. I’d hope he could go straight into our team but we’d need to have a look at him first.
“That’s the only bid we have in at the moment but there will be more during the next 24 hours.
“I’ll know in the next couple of days whether we’ve been successful with other targets but we’re hopeful. It’s safe to say Rodriguez won’t be the last defender we go for.”
