Mertesacker has long been linked with a move away from Bremen and Arsenal are among the clubs reportedly interested in the former Hannover star.
Mertesacker’s current contract with Bremen is set to expire at the end of the season.
“My plan is stay in Bremen,” he told reporters. “If you look at the [media] coverage it goes back and forth.
“No one really knows what is going on. But I know exactly, so I will stay in Bremen.”
