The 27-year-old, who has only 12 months left on his current contract at Reading, has been linked with a move to Leicester City.
But McDermott insists they are still in talks about an extension to Kebe’s current contract with the club.
“At this moment in time we’re still in talks with Jimmy,” McDermott told the Crowthorne and Sandhurst Times.
“That’s where we are. He won’t be going anywhere before the window closes.
“It’s just down to the club and Jimmy to sort out his contract. With just one year left, we are keen to keep him here at Reading, as I have always said.”
