Mertesacker moved to the Premier League side in the summer and has had a tough start at the Emirates Stadium.
“I always wanted to play for the club, I am so thrilled. Now that I’m right in the middle of it, there grows a sense of pride that I am actually now a part of this club,” Mertesacker told Weser-Kurier.
“I of course [think about] Werder Bremen. But I can assure you that I do not regret this move to Arsenal, and I will never regret it.
“This is a decision that will bring me 100 per cent forward. Our team is very, very good and can compete in the Champions League.”
