Juventus confirms Del Piero exit

The 36-year-old joined Juventus from Padova in 1993 and has become the club’s all-time record goalscorer.

Del Piero’s current contract with Juventus is set to expire at the end of the season and club president Andrea Agnelli has confirmed that they have opted against keeping the forward.

“The unique link between the old Juventus and the new Juve is our captain, Alessandro Del Piero,” commented Agnelli.

“The link between the Stadio Comunale, Stadio delle Alpi to Stadio Olimpico to the Juventus Stadium is our captain Del Piero.

“He wanted to stay with us for one more year, and this will be his last season wearing the black-and-white jersey.”
