Giggs celebrated his game No700.
He told MUTV: “The defence won us the match. We know if we can keep a clean sheet we’ll always get chances and that’s what happened.
“We didn’t play particularly well and didn’t create too many chances mainly because Liverpool dominated the game. But we always had that feeling that if we did get an opportunity in the second half we’d put it away and that’s what we did.
“When we went down to ten men after Scholesy’s sending off, I think we would have taken a point. You’re always going to be up against it when you’re a man short.
“But we managed to grind out the result. We got a lucky break when the ball dropped to Sheasy and thankfully he was able to put it away.
He added: “You’re not always going to play well. It’s not the four or five nil victories that win you Championships, it’s these type of results where you have to dig out a win. We did it at Fulham and we’ve done it again at Anfield which is a great feeling.”
