The German midfielder has undergone surgery on his knee after sustaining a meniscous problem.
Schalke general manager Horst Heldt told Deutsche Presseagentur: “Peer Kluge has sustained an injury and has had surgery.
“He will be out until Christmas and is unable to play further matches for us until then.”
Kluge joined Schalke from Nurnberg last January.
