The 27-year-old is currently behind Julian Speroni in the pecking order at Selhurst Park.
“We’re going to open talks with Lewis with the view to getting him to sign a new deal,” the manager told the Croydon Advertiser.
“He hasn’t ever let me down this season when he has come into the side and I’ve been impressed with him.
“We want to have quality cover in each position and I think Lewis has a bright future ahead of him.
“Julian isn’t going to play forever and one day we’ll need to replace him.”
