Blackburn’s Indian owners, Venkys, are desperate to buy big in order to beat the drop this season.
Kean is keen to sign a new right-back, a midfielder and a striker in January.
He said: “There are areas that I’d like to strengthen. We have found it difficult at times with senior players out.
“We will look to bring in different players. I want a midfield player who can pick out the runs of our forwards and I am also looking for someone to add goals to the team up front.”
