Petrov missed the Swansea clash on Sunday with a tight hamstring.
Villa boss Alex McLeish said: “Everybody has trained except Stan who hasn’t rejoined us yet. We have a clean bill of health at present other than Stan and the long-term absentee Eric Lichaj.
“Stan should probably rejoin us again on Thursday.
“It’s wear and tear because he’s played a lot of games and I think it was time to rest him.
“I think he’s a wholehearted customer who loves to play. He’ll never give you anything less than 100 per cent.”
