Ferguson has been warned it will take a bid of £50million to sign Borussia Dortmund star Mario Goetze, but the United boss is ready to make a bid for Hummels instead.
The Daily Mail reports that Ferguson is considering making a bid for Hummels after losing Nemanja Vidic for the rest of the season through injury.
Hummels impressed United scouts while they were in Germany watching Goetze. The 23-year-old centre-back has already made 12 Germany caps.
