Parkin has scored once in two appearances for Scunthorpe since joining the club on an initial one month loan deal.
“Long term we’ll have to wait and see what happens. Scunthorpe might not want me!” Parkin told the Scunthorpe Telegraph. “But hopefully I’ll get the chance to stay here a bit longer this season.
“There were a few other clubs in for me when I came here, but I spoke to (United’s assistant manager) Chris Brass, who I’ve known for a lot of years, and he said if I came to Scunthorpe I’d enjoy it. That’s what’s happening.
“No-one had to sell the club to me. I just wanted to play football and Scunthorpe is only 40 miles from my house as well, which is a massive bonus.
“I just want to play as many games as I can. I’ve not had many in the last year or so, which has been frustrating, so it’s just nice to be playing football.”
