Reports have recently linked Fulham with a move for Berbatov after United boss Sir Alex Ferguson stated that the Bulgarian striker could leave Old Trafford at the end of the season.
“Berbatov is a player who I don’t think would go to a side who are not as good as Manchester United because he is a top, top player,” Jol said.
“Even when he was not a regular, I think there was a spell where he was the top scorer in England with over 20 goals.
“Any good player would do well here and he would score a lot of goals but he is a confidence player.
“He is so talented and gifted, that it tells you about the quality in the Manchester United squad.”
