“I can’t believe he is already about to make his 500th appearance. To me he is still the young lad I saw 12 years ago — he is naturally gifted with great vision.
“This is a great milestone for Paul and, fortunately for us, we have him for a while yet.
“We were all worried when he had an eye problem last season but it was wonderful to have him back after a long lay-off.
“His return to the team was like signing a new player.
“I can’t speak highly enough of Paul Scholes, a sensational player for United and England, and one of the nicest people you are ever likely to meet.”
