The player has been out of favour for most of his time in Madrid and a move back to Brazil was an option but not to Flamengo it seems.
“His move could excite the fans. But I am cautious and I’m not a braggart,” the club’s executive director Paulo Pelaipe told ESPN.
“This is our style. A responsible style. A club as large as Flamengo cannot say its doors are closed. We are open to new faces.
“But Flamengo has a transfer policy that is grounded. We are trying to recover financially and we assume that we cannot meet his expenses.”
