The Mirror reports that United must break their club record transfer fee and pay £31million to make the deal happen.
United have made a £26million bid for Fabregas, but the club are willing to go to £31million to sign the former Arsenal star.
Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova said on Tuesday of Fabregas: “I’m aware there have been offers. I had a conversation with him and he told me that he wanted to continue here and that he didn’t want to go to another big club. He wants to succeed here.”
Fabregas is United boss David Moyes’ No. 1 transfer target this summer.
“It would be great if Cesc came here,” said United goalkeeper David De Gea. “It would be great to have more Spanish players at Manchester United.
“He’s a great player; very skillful, knows how to win things. You always want those type of players in your team.”
