The Daily Star reports that United are set to make the bid for Ozil after finally having given up any hope of signing Barcelona ace Cesc Fabregas.
Real Madrid have made the German midfielder available and United are leading the race to sign the 24-year-old.
Ozil is desperate to find a new club as he knows he will have limited chances once Gareth Bale moves to the Bernabeu.
