Merson believes Spurs, who lost 1-3 at home to Manchester City on Saturday, will win 1-3 away to Brighton on Tuesday.
Merson told Sky Sports: “Tottenham were embarrassed by Man City. They got a complete runaround, bar five or 10 minutes in each half. I’ve never seen anything like it.
“Brighton had a go against Crystal Palace, but defensively I’m not sure. I don’t think they’ll keep Harry Kane quiet, so I can’t see anything but a Spurs win.
“I think Brighton will be alright, they’ve just got to keep their eyes on Southampton’s results.”
