Solskjaer denies Haaland is joining United
Manchester United boss and Haaland’s compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer played down reports that Haaland is heading to England to join his team. When asked about Haaland’s trip, the Red Devils boss told media:
“I don’t think he’s en route here, to be fair, not through me anyway. I can’t comment on other teams’ players, I’ve said that many times. That’s just one of those things in this job – you get so many speculations all the time.”
United just one team interested in Haaland
It is fair to say that Erling Haaland is now one of the most in-demand players in world football. The 19-year-old forward has been in sensational form this season, scoring an impressive 28 times in 22 competitive games for Salzburg this season.
His scoring exploits were always going to bring him to the attention of bigger clubs throughout Europe. Last week there were reports that German Bundesliga pair RB Leipzig and Dortmund were set to fight it out for the wonderkid’s signature in January. Leipzig look his most likely destination, as they are an affiliate club of Salzburg.
Haaland could add to a different dimension to United’s attack
Manchester United already have the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford as attacking options, as well as the precocious talents of youngster Mason Greenwood. However, Haaland is more of a natural out-and-out striker, who can be the focal point. His talents are certainly different from those of the current United forwards.
The youngster previously worked under United boss Solskjaer at former club Molde. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the young forward. However, looking from the outside in he looks like he could be a top signing for the Red Devils.
