The Portuguese boss had been under pressure for the last few months, with the Toffees underperforming badly in the Premier League.

Not showing his supposed acumen
When he arrived at Everton, some lauded Silva as a tactical genius, despite poor results at both Hull and Watford. Quite where his reputation as a top tactician came from is questionable.

Silva’s replacement has a big job on their hands
Looking at the Everton squad, it looks pretty good on paper. It is full of international players, with a decent mix of youth and experience. However, the players have just not gelled as a team.
The Merseysider’s are in a poor position with a tough run of fixtures to come in the next few weeks. The Everton job has become something of a poisoned chalice in recent years. Whoever takes over on a permanent basis has a big job on their hands.
