Chelsea manager Pochettino triumphs, convincing defender Levi Colwill to stay amidst Liverpool and Brighton pursuit. Defense strengthened for new season.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino successfully convinced highly sought-after defender Levi Colwill to remain at the club, beating off competition from Liverpool and Brighton.
Colwill’s impressive loan spell with Brighton led to interest in a permanent move, but Chelsea rejected two offers, including a club-record £40m bid. Brighton even attempted a potential swap deal involving Chelsea target Moises Caicedo.
However, Colwill’s outstanding performances for England U21s in the European Championships attracted attention from Liverpool as well. Pochettino, adamant about keeping the talented prospect, ultimately triumphed in persuading Colwill to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea can now look forward to the upcoming season with a promising young talent still in their ranks.
