In the Premiership clash against Manchester United there were 4,000 empty seats.
Chief executive Brenda Spencer said: “We feel this decision is right for our supporters.
“We realise we cannot just expect people to turn up to watch.
“At the same time we recognise a trend in football that attendances are falling.”
