Gattuso wants revenge for the 2005 Champions League final against Liverpool played in Istanbul.
He said: “My thoughts are all there, I can’t wait till this match comes along. I hope the memory of Istanbul will give us the strength to win. It’s hard to forget that evening but that memory could give the whole team that extra edge to win.”
He continued: “In these two years our thoughts have gone there many times, it stimulates us. It takes courage to look back on that night. It was already in Milan, then it came back to Istanbul, then Liverpool took it with them. I’ve seen it again in pieces, I could never watch it again entirely.
“It went like that, they won, and it hurt us. The thing that hurt the most was when they said we were partying during the break.”
