Ferguson said: “It’s a bad blow for England and I’m disappointed for Steve McClaren.
“I spoke to him on Sunday night about it and I could sense his disappointment. They have got September matches against Israel and Russia and they should be able to cope with them.
“And by the time the ones in October come around I would expect him to be back by then.”
