Tottenham boss Jol blasts his defenders

Jol said: “You can have all the good intentions but if you concede in the first two minutes, you’re in trouble.

“When you let in three goals in the first 45 minutes, it is almost impossible to come back against a settled side like Everton.

“We did a lot of work in pre-season but it’s unfortunate we have had to use 10 defenders in our last five games. I have four or five out from the first game.”

He added: “We expect to do better at home to Everton.

“I felt we were a bit unlucky and there are still many chapters to go in the season.

“To have zero points from the first two games doesn’t help us but I don’t want to come up with excuses.

“The only positive is the spirit in the dressing room’s good.”
