Ferguson said: “The same referee sent him off against Manchester City and he would have loved the opportunity to do it again.
“He will be missing for three games and that is a big blow.
“We go into a derby against City now without Cristiano and Wayne but the only consolation is that we got 90 minutes out of Tevez and he was absolutely terrific.
“Carlos didn’t get much protection, though. I will have to check the rulebook because I didn’t think you were allowed to tackle from behind and he suffered that a lot.”
