Wenger said: “Cesc is very like Paul Scholes of Manchester United. He uses his brain and is intelligent in the game.
“He has exceptional passing ability and he knows how to time his runs to get into the box and he’s only 20!”
He added: “I made a tape of Cesc’s games last season and you would not believe how many chances he had in some of them.
“Some games he’d have three chances but I knew his touch in front of goal would come back. He scored a lot of goals at youth level.”
