He told the Evening Chronicle: “These are exciting times for me and Newcastle.
“I think we’ve made a positive start and it is great at the moment. But we won’t get carried away by anything.
“There have been big changes at the club. We are still learning to play together, but I think everybody is on the same page. We need to learn how to work as a squad, and there are still mistakes that need to be ironed out.
“We don’t want to get ahead of ourselves though. We’ll take each game at a time and hopefully continue to get good results.”
