Rooney was disappointed when they lost against AC Milan in the semi-finals last season.
He said: “I am desperate to win the Champions League after getting so close last season. I know we did not play the way we can in Milan and that cost us.
“Hopefully we will get to the final this year and win it.
“We’re a bit more experienced and the new signings have brought a freshness to the side which maybe we missed at the end of last season.”
