He told The Sun: “Carlos is settling in really well but it’s a bit difficult at the minute because he doesn’t speak much English.
“At the moment it’s probably sign language if we’re facing each other.
“If you have to shout something, you just make a noise and hope he understands!
“We make runs off eye contact too — but if you’re behind him you just have to shout and hope!
“But we understand each other’s game as well, and find other ways to combat him not speaking too much English.
“He’s settling in well, though, and after the Roma game a few of us — me, Carlos and Rio Ferdinand — went out for a meal. He’s done so well and hopefully it’s a partnership we will build on. Carlos is a fantastic player — intelligent, good on the ball, and he works his socks off.
“He’s been brilliant for us.”
