Fergie last denied deliberately making an abusive gesture towards Reading fans during United’s 2-0 win, but faces a new probe by FA.
“All I was doing was expressing my relief at winning what was one of our hardest games of the season,” said Fergie.
“Reading always make it tough for us and Saturday we ran so much we clocked up more kilometres than in any other game this season.”
Reading boss Steve Coppell said of the incident: “It was over the time. Fergie over the years has intimidated more than enough people and you respond to intimidation by trying to respond yourself.
“The fact he was so animated at the end was a compliment to Reading that we pushed them so hard.”
