Fergie said: “Berbatov, without doubt, has been fantastic since he arrived from Leverkusen. He is a good player.
“He is a big, strong lad too. People don’t realise how strong he is. He is well-balanced and hard to shake off the ball.
“Robbie Keane scored his 100th goal for them last Saturday and that is a terrific record considering Spurs have not really been that successful over the last few years.
“I have known Robbie since he was a kid at Wolves and remember my son Darren telling me about this young kid called Robbie so we know all about him.
“They also have Jermain Defoe as well so they have quite a potent force.
“But I think they will play Keane and Berbatov because it was interesting that, as soon as they got into a winning position against Arsenal on Tuesday, they whipped the two of them off.”
He added: “Tottenham showed they are on the up with an increase in their performances.
“Obviously their new manager will now be feeling he has got the understanding of the team and they will be understanding his way of playing.
“That always takes time with any manager and Tuesday’s result will have them buoyed up even though it was against a team that wasn’t Arsenal’s strongest.
“Credit to Tottenham, I thought they were far better and they could have scored more goals.
“Arsenal can have no complaints. It was an emphatic 5-1 victory and therefore I think it will be a really good cup tie against us. Tottenham v United games over the years have usually been open affairs.”
