Gradi told the club’s official website: “Terry Robinson (Chairman of Sheffield United) attended the England Under-19 International which we hosted at our ground in mid-week and he has a good relationship with our chairman and the board at Crewe.
“He suggested that Chris Lucketti could be available and that type of experienced defender is what we need at the moment. I’ve got two experienced defenders of my own here, which I’m happy with but they are not playing.
“I knew that Chris had turned down a couple of loan opportunities already, but out of courteously I rang Neil (Warnock) to see if there was a chance that he may have been interested in coming here. I’ve known Chris for a number of years because he was once here as a kid when I first arrived at Crewe.
“Neil told me that Chris had passed on his regards, but he didn’t want to do anything until after Christmas which is fine. It could be a possibility then but it will depend on our situation and how our two lads are fitness wise.”
