Adriano spent much of last season on loan at Sao Paolo, but after returning to Italy he has impressed new Inter boss Jose Mourinho.
“I remember that three years ago I was challenging Andriy Shevchenko for the Ballon d’Or, then it all went downhill,” he told Sky Italia.
“I think the Champions League can help me a great deal, especially on an international level. Everyone can see that I am still a great player and have a point to prove.
“People have lost faith in me, but if I want it, work hard and behave myself, I can become a champion again.”
