The incident happened during the goalless draw between Aalborg and Celtic in the Champions League.
Aalborg boss Bruce Rioch said: “I think the wrong player has been sent off. The officials weren’t clear and Michael is upset, because he wasn’t involved.
“I’m not so bothered about the penalty, but we’ll question the sending off.
“We needed to concentrate during the second half. We only let them in once and the ‘keeper, who was fantastic, made a good save. He’s also really good looking, I can’t have him near me.”
