Ferrari left Roma for Genoa when his contract at the Stadio Olimpico expired this summer.
“I decided in January that I wouldn’t renew my Roma contract,” Ferrari said.
“I was offered some good money but I was going to be a reserve and I don’t feel inferior to Philippe Mexes or Juan. I needed a change of scene.
“Milan and Inter both wanted me, but I would have been in the same situation as at Roma – I wouldn’t have been a first-team regular.
“I decided to go for Genoa after they had spent a month and a half looking for me. Their desire and the project I saw made me agree to move to Marassi.”
