Abidal is currently out with a muscle injury.
The 29-year-old told Radio Monte-Carlo: “I really hope that Benzema will join Barcelona. The move will depend on him but he has already achieved so many extraordinary things at his young age at Lyon.
“I suppose if he wants to continue growing, he should come to Barca because this is the best place for him to take his game to another level.”
