Musampa can join Sunderland after leaving Trabzonspor as a free agent.
Musampa’s brother Jean told the Sunday Sun: “Kiki wants to return to England and to go to Sunderland is a good opportunity for him.
“He wants to play in the Premiership again – he feels that he has unfinished business there.
“The plan is for him to train with Sunderland and play in the reserves next week to prove his fitness.
“Then we will speak to Roy Keane and hopefully he will want to keep him.”
“Kiki can sign for Sunderland, if Roy Keane wants him,” he added.
“He was not happy at Trabzonspor and when they were late paying him, he decided to end his time there and move on.
“There is still a financial settlement to be sorted with Trabzonspor, but he is a free agent and he can join another club now.”
